Chrysler unveils more aggressive incentives
Chrysler LLC on Friday unveiled major new incentives to help dealers finish July.

The incentives include zero percent financing for 72 months on remaining 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Commander, Dodge Durango and Chrysler Aspen SUVs. The zero for 72 financing is for A tier customers only. Chrysler is offering zero percent APR financing for 60 months on the same four vehicles for B tier customers.

Chrysler will also offer $500 lease bonus cash on most 2008 Chrysler and Dodge cars and $1,000 lease bonus cash on most Chrysler and Dodge cars and on all Chrysler Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans. The $1,000 lease bonus cash also extends to the Grand Cherokee, Commander, Liberty, Wrangler, Nitro, Durango and Aspen.

The dealers were effective starting July 25 and running through July 31.

Chrysler has been piling on the incentives to help dealers jump start sales as skyrocketing gas prices have bludgeoned the company's truck- and SUV-dominated product lineup.

Chrysler sales plunged 35 percent in June. Chrysler's $2.99 gas purchase incentive, which expires July 31, has failed to boost sales. Earlier this month, Chrysler began offering zero percent financing for 72 months on remaining 2008 Dodge Ram pickups. A new 2009 Ram 1500, completely redesigned, is due at the end of the summer, and many dealers are being very cautious about ordering them because they have so many 2008 trucks still sitting on their lots.
