A couple of limited-edition, eye-catching Porsches with peppier engines will reach the United States in October.
The Cayman S Sport will sticker at $70,850 and the Boxster S Porsche Design Edition 2 will start at $67,850, including a $950 destination charge.
Most notably, however, both of the mid-engine sports cars get an eight-horsepower bump to 303 ponies through the 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine.
When visualizing them, think faster--as in faster cars in the Porsche lineup. The S Sport comes in the same green or orange colors as the 911 GT3 RS, as well as other standard Porsche colors, with special block lettering on the side.
Performance is reinforced by the Porsche’s active-suspension-management system, and the suspension is lowered 10 mm. It rides on 19-inch sport wheels and has a sports-tuned exhaust with a twin-chamber tailpipe.
Other upgrades include bixenon headlights, sports seats and Alcantara finishes for the gearshift lever and hand brake, as well as the same steering wheel rim as the GT3.
The Boxster S Porsche Design Edition 2 is a bit more subtle, clad in white livery and specially painted styling touches, including the side air intakes, center counsel and instrument dials. It also rides on 19-inch wheels and gets gray exterior stripes.
If you want one, you’ll need to move quickly. Fewer than 50 of the Boxster S and about 100 of the Cayman S limited-run models will make it to the United States. Worldwide, there will only be 500 of the Boxster and 700 of the Cayman.
