Nissan GT-R
Using the same FM platform that will be employed on the new Z350, Nissan has crafted a reborn GTR. Though never officially imported to America, the GTR has long been Nissan's performance and technology leader. Past models have employed twin-turbocharged six cylinder engines driving an electronically controlled four-wheel-drive system. The result has been blinding speed coupled with the kind of handling that makes the average driver look like Michael Schumacher.

This concept gives us only a first look at the styling of the next GTR. But Nissan President Carlos Ghosn has promised that this model will be sold everywhere in the world, including America. We don't expect the car before 2003 and we don't even know if it will come to America as a Nissan or as an Infiniti. But when it arrives, we expect a price over $50,000. And if history is any guide, it will have sufficient speed and technology to challenge the fastest sports cars from Europe.
