Redesigned Toyota Prius gets uncovered early
The camouflage on the new Prius has come off a little sooner than Toyota had planned.

We've known for quite a while that Toyota was going to bring the new Prius to the Detroit auto show next January. And there's been no shortage of spy shots of well-covered prototypes. But the new Prius has gone naked.

The fans at priuschat.com posted pix of what was claimed to be redesigned Prius. And guess what? Toyota PR confirms that the photos are legit, although they won't say anything else about them.

Toyota had been releasing teaser images of the car--such as a look at the info screen and the sunroof switch--before the Web busted out the whole car.

From what we see, the new Prius has a familiar silhouette but wears the Toyota corporate face.

The interior shot shows a clean dashboard with a digital gauge cluster and center console that splits the front cabin, with storage space underneath.

Our spies have told us that the new Prius is a bit shorter and wider than the current car and will get a bigger four-cylinder engine while also improving its fuel economy.

So we see the package, but the proof will be in the details. January will be here soon.
