In case you needed another reason to treat yourself to a weekend at Skip Barber High Performance Driving School, it's now offering a Lotus for students to flog.
Lotus Cars USA and Skip Barber announced Thursday, Nov. 20, that the 218-hp Lotus Exige S will be part of the already-speedy fleet for amateur drivers to test their skills.
All six Skip Barber Exiges will be equipped with adjustable Bilstein dampers with remote front reservoirs and threaded spring perches, a stiffer front anti-roll bar and rear chassis brace kit.
The supercharged Exige will top 100 mph in just 11 seconds and do 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds. The Lotus is almost the perfect track car with a power-to-weight ratio of 10.5 hp per pound out of the 1.8-liter Toyota engine.
"It's actually a bit of an understatement to say the Exige is the perfect car for the high performance driving school," Skip Barber COO George Ayres said in a statement. "Super lightweight, incredible braking and handling and even quicker than some pure bred race cars."
The Lotus will join a fast group of cars including a Porsche 911, BMW M3 and Lexus IS-F. Skip Barber offers one- and two-day driving and racing schools. The first school to use the Lotus Exige will be in December at Road Atlanta.
